NCTB January-May Schedule Announced

Second Super NIT coming to Northern CA!

SAN RAFAEL, CA. -- NCTB Baseball has released the tournament schedule for January-May. In those 5 months, NCTB will be running 10 weekends at BLD Manteca, and 14 weekends at Twin Creeks Sports Complex. Also, a major addition to the Northern CA tournament scene is coming in April with the addition of a second Super NIT, April 13-15.

"We are very excited about the 2012 Spring schedule," NCTB President and USSSA State Director Adam Farb said, "we get to serve our teams by running in the best venues in Northern California, and working together to make tournaments even more enjoyable for our players and their families. We've put in a lot of effort to improve the quality of our umpires and tournament organization, and now in 2012 we've developed partnerships with some of the top venues in the area that will see those complexes become even better places to play."

NCTB's 5-year agreement with Twin Creeks will see the addition of a permanent tournament booth with video bracket display; a "redesign" of Field 5 to become USSSA Showcase Field, complete with web cam and a new scoreboard. NCTB and Twin Creeks are also working on a major structural upgrade for the park's 12 fields, although that could take some time.

A couple of special events are on the calendar as well:

March 24-25, NCTB will be hosting the 1st ever Players' Weekend at Drake HS in San Anselmo. 48 of the top 8th Graders in the region will be invited to this 100% free event, where they will be divided onto equal teams and will play a 4-game tournament. The teams will be coached by former big leaguers and top HS coaches. There will be a clinic component; players will have a chance to view and learn from game video; and there will be a skills contest too. In short, a year of preparation has gone into blowing this weekend out of the water with the best combination of fun, skill development and competition anywhere. 

April 21-22 NCTB has added a new event, the Home Run Derby. Fences will be brought in to reachable distances, and players will receive a prize for every home run. Additionally, there will be team prizes for most bombs in the weekend.

In addition to the calendar, NCTB will also continue to run the USA Baseball National Team Identification Series- Northern California, starting in Summer 2012, and will host the 4th Annual Spring League, which runs from Feb 25th to May 20th and is for 13u and 14u teams.
